Galeecha Pavilion

A modular caternary cloud — carpets re-imagined as ceiling.

Role Intern · Sameep Padora & Associates Year 2011 Location India
Galeecha Pavilion
Intent

An exhibitor's pavilion for a carpet brand, where carpets become the ceiling.

Approach

A dynamic, ethereal cloud of modular carpet compositions, suspended above the exhibition space. The visionary approach reimagines carpets through hinged joinery and calibrated module placements — the metaphoric cloud acquires a remarkable curvature, allowing fluid modulation. Strategically inverted modules also serve as stabilizers, constraining the curvature when required.

Outcome

A transformative caternary structure that functions as a ceiling — striking a harmonious balance between the ephemeral and the structural.
